I live in a basement apartment that has a ledge around the walls, a perfect spot to place lamps. However, since the ledge is only 8" deep, I needed lamps with a small base and a shade that didn't flare out or exceed the width of the ledge. These Paper Shade Table lamps fit the bill. The base is a little less than 6" in diameter and the shade, even at it's widest point in the middle, fit perfectly on the ledge. The lamp, from the top of the shade to the bottom of the base, is less than 22" high. I especially like that the on/off switch is on the cord. The lamp came well packed - lots of tape to hold it to the styrofoam form in the box, so be careful getting all the wrapping off so you don't damage the shade. It was also easy to put together (instructions included). Just be gentle with the shade - after all, it is paper and can rip easily. The lamp uses 60 watt bulbs. I have 13 watt CFL bulbs in mine and, with the shade, I get a nice soft light. I bought my lamps from the Target website - the shipping was a lot less than through Amazon (sorry Amazon!). All in all, I'm very happy with these lamps and plan on buying several more for my living room.

This is a nice little lamp. Really nice light that is spread evenly, thanks to the shade.
The only downside, like any paper lamp, is that it's easy to rip. Probably not the best solution for people with pets or kids, but otherwise, you should have a good experience with it.

I really like the look of this, and the diffused quality of the light is really nice. The base is kind of cheap looking, and arrived with a couple of tiny nicks already in it. Then it picked up fingerprints pretty quickly which I haven't been able to wipe off. That said, I don't think they're very noticeable most of the time. But one other thing that bothers me is that the little thumb wheel on-off switch is too far down the cord, so I have to coil it up on the table to be able to reach it easily. Again, not a big deal, so overall I would say I'm pretty happy with it.

I bought this along with it's larger floor-lamp sibling, and couldn't be happier. Everything I said about the floor lamp applies to this as well: it's not exactly the most durable lamp in the world, so it's probably not great for households with curious children or pets, but it's a paper lamp, so you have to keep that in mind. Looking at it from that perspective - as a cheap table lamp - this little guy's in a class of its own. It looks great, can be exceptionally bright if you use the right type of bulb (I use a compact fluorescent) and it won't break your wallet. I bought two. The base isn't as sturdy or heavy as the floor lamp, but that makes sense, since the floor lamp is quite large. I love these things. I'll definitely buy another if one of them breaks or I need to light up another room.
The bottom line:
- Decent price and good quality
- Fantastic, simplistic design
- Has a matching floor lamp that's equally great!
- Consider buying at your local Target to save on shipping costs

I bought this lamp just as an after thought when I bought the matching floor lamp. It's a great little lamp. The quality is really good, and it puts out bright yet soothing light. Very nice!
